HockeyTV Announces Broadcast Partnership Extension with Alberta Junior Hockey League

hockeytvHockeyTech’s Online Hockey Streaming Platform to Offer High-Definition Broadcasts of AJHL Hockey

BOSTON, MA (February 7, 2017) – HockeyTV, a service of HockeyTech and the definitive destination to watch hockey online, today announced an extension to their broadcast agreement with the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), where each team will now have the opportunity to broadcast their games in high-definition video.

HockeyTV is a feature-rich platform used by hockey scouts, recruiters, coaches, players, and fans for streaming, archiving, and managing live and on-demand elite hockey content.  The AJHL is one of the most highly-respected Junior ‘A’ Leagues in Canada, having several national champions to its credit.  Debuting in 1963, the league has grown from five teams to sixteen, fostering the development of young athletes who have gone on to become Stanley Cup champions, Ivy League graduates, and community leaders.

The extension of the deal between HockeyTV and the AJHL allows fans of the league and the sport of ice hockey to continue to watch every game played at home or on the road from their computers, tablets, smartphones, and streaming devices, now with select broadcasts in high-definition.  For AJHL players, this extension will continue to foster the type of exposure that helps young hockey players to get noticed by junior teams at the next level, colleges and universities, and professional hockey organizations.

“Our partnership with HockeyTV is as strong as it’s ever been,” said Ryan Bartoshyk, Commissioner of the AJHL.  “HockeyTV’s continuous broadcast innovation mirrors our commitment to continuously improve our league’s ability to better serve our young athletes by fostering more exposure and opportunity.”

With the extension in place, AJHL players can now rest assured that their decision to play in the esteemed league will increase their opportunities to continue to play hockey at the next level.  To the audience watching AJHL hockey on HockeyTV, games that are broadcast in HD will present greater video quality when viewed on all devices.

“The significance of broadcasting live hockey games in high-definition simply cannot be understated,” said Marc Ruskin, President of HockeyTech.  “HD broadcasts not only offer the viewer at home a much sharper presentation, but offer teams and scouts the ability to get a better read on player performance when evaluating a player’s ability to perform at the next level.”

79 players have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft directly from the AJHL, and nineteen AJHL alumni have won the coveted Stanley Cup.  For information on the AJHL, visit www.ajhl.ca or their HockeyTV league portal at theajhl.hockeytv.com.  For more information on HockeyTV, visit www.hockeytv.com.
